Your Online Income Blog

If you want to grow your online income, AND you enjoy writing a lot, then blog marketing just might be your cup of tea. But herein lies the problem grasshopper. Can you really make a 6 figure income blogging? The short answer to that question is…yes. But…But…hold your horses and don’t get your hopes up just yet. Truth is you have to do A LOT of writing and promoting to make that kind of income from your blog.

Don’t get me wrong, the people at The $9,000 A Month Blogging System can do it month in and month out. But I don’t know if your average Joe can make that kind of online cash doing it.

First of all, if you want to make 6 figures a year blogging, then you’ll need more than one blog. It’ll take several blogs to generate that kind of income. But you can’t just have any damn blog you know. You need a blog that people will actually READ! You can’t just throw a bunch of crap on paper and expect people to want to read it. So you’ll need several quality blogs.

Then there’s the question of traffic. How are you going to put eyeballs your blogs? A friend of mine, Jack Humphrey, put together some information on How He Instantly Tripled His Traffic. Well, that doesn’t suck at all! How many people come to your blog site right now? What would your commissions be like if you could drive more traffic to your site? Probably pretty friggin good.

Blogging will be a full time income for you once you get several blogs going at one time. I’d recommend writing about stuff you already enjoy. There’s no sense in writing about stuff you don’t like. It’ll only drive you out of your mind. Trust me, I’ve been there. It sucks.

After you have several blogs rolling at one time, you may run out of time to do all the writing and promoting yourself. You may end up outsourcing some of your writing or even getting some guest bloggers to write for you. Either way, you’ll run out time to put together quality content day in and day out, so go check out Elance or the Warrior Forum and see if you can hire some people to write for you for real cheap.

It’s a fair question to ask right? After all, if you’re looking to grow your online income then you are going to want every advantage you can get right? Let me tell you a little story about my experience with marketing coaches savvy?

Just so you know, not only am I an online marketer I also own a home inspection firm. Kind of cool. Call me greedy, but I just happen to love multiple streams of income. Anyway, on with the story.

In the beginning of my home inspection career I was frickin clueless about marketing or what it even was. I just kind of hung out my shingle and passed out cards for my inspection firm. That really wasn’t overly effective, for obvious reasons. And when I wasn’t able to book enough inspections to pay the bills…I began to look for help.

I got involved with a company called Home Inspector Startup and Growth. Basically, this guy is a home inspector that knows how to market his services very, very well. He started a coaching program teaching home inspectors across the country how to market their home inspection services as well. I paid like $80 a month for his services.

The results? Well, I went from making $30,000 a year to $60,000 a year because of the marketing strategies he taught me. The results were almost immediate. Now do the math. 12 (months) times $80 (a month) equals $960. Follow me? Now, I paid $960 to make $30,000 additional dollars in my business. Yea, I’ll put that nickel in the slot machine any day man.

The fast and dirty answer to this question is…yes.  It is possible to grow your online income without a website.  Allow me to outline 3 ways you can do it.

Squidoo, Blogger, HubPages

Squidoo, Blogger and HubPages are all free blogs you can sign up for and use.  The tools are real user friendly and in a matter of minutes you can have a blog site up and running.  The cool thing here is you can pimp affiliate links without even having to pay for a domain name.  But do they work?

Yes, they work. One Squidoo page I made back in September of 2009 routinely makes money for me.  Not quit your job kind of income, but income none the less.  Over $1,000 of my online income in 2010 (as of May) came from my Squidoo or Blogger blogs.  So yea, they are powerful and worth checking out.  If you can’t afford a website now, then do a free blog.

Keep in mind though, these are actual websites and you don’t want to post crappy reviews or bad posts because nobody will read them.  Just pretend it is your own site and you’ll be fine.

Pay Per Click

It’s possible to make money with PPC.  I’d recommend using Yahoo! over Google though.  With Yahoo! you can use a straight affiliate link.  However, at Google you’ll need to get your own domain name.  That’ll set you back around $8.  Not so bad.  However, I must warn you.  DO NOT start out in the make money from home niche or health niche when you run a PPC campaign.  It’s WAY too busy with too many good marketers and you’ll end up paying like $1.00 a click.  Squash that.  Don’t pay over 15 cents a click to start out with.  Do some research and make sure you’re promoting an affiliate product with little competition; otherwise you’ll lose your shirt.

Write Articles

Article marketing has been coined as “Bum Marketing”.  Meaning that it’s so easy even a bum off the street could do it.  Kinda.  It does require work to write articles.  For example for me, it takes about 20 minutes to write an article.  And if I know nothing on the topic, then it could take me over one hour to complete.

But what is cool about article marketing is you can write a 250+ work article and post it on EzineArticles.com and have hundreds to thousands of people visiting your article.  At the end of the article you can put a call to action with a link to your affiliate product.  It’s totally free to post to directories.  Again, you’ll need to buy a domain name because most article directories won’t let you slap a raw affiliate link on the page.  So invest like 8 bucks and get to writing alright?

While it is true you can grow your online income without a website, it’s a lot easier if you do have your own website.  A website is a lot cheaper than you think.  I only get my sites from 2 places.  HOSTMONSTER.COM and HostGator

HOSTMONSTER.COM costs around $70 a year for a website and  HostGator has a month by month trial for like $8 a month.  I use them both and they are good.
