Have you been wondering if you can grow your online income even in a crappy economy? Well you’re not the only one. There are thousands of people trying to make money online these days. It’s almost like the next Vogue. However, I see way more frowns than I do smiles when it comes to earning money online. With the news media always talking about how bad things are it’s no wonder so many people are down in the dumps.

My remedy for that is simple. Stop watching the news. The alphabet networks (ABC, CBS, NBC MessNBC andCNN) rarely ever have anything good to say. For crying out loud, it’s almost like they get a commission for using the word “recession” in their news casts. So basically, stop watching the news. All they want to do is tell you how bad things are (like you didn’t know already or something.)

Let me give you a few names here for you to think about:
• Bill Gates
• Henry Ford
• Burger King
• Chris Farrell

• MTV Networks
• FedEx
• Sports Illustrated

Do any of those names sound familiar? I bet they do. Would you like to know what they all have in common? They all started their businesses during a recession.

For example…Microsoft Corp. wasn’t always the jaw-dropping enterprise it is today. In 1975, when it was created by Harvard University dropout Bill Gates, Microsoft was just a little company in Albuquerque, N.M. It dealt in rudimentary computing languages and began its climb to business stardom with the success of MS-DOS, which was sold and marketed to IBM Corp. and then-IBM clones. Today, the company is estimated to earn more than $60 billion in revenue per year and is branching into new areas including VoIP and CRM. 60 BILLION DOLLARS!

Or how about Sports Illustrated? It was launched on August 16, 1954, at the tail-end of a recession. The magazine benefitted from fortunate timing as a boom in professional sports exploded soon after its founding. Sports Illustrated now sells about 3 million copies in the U.S. each week. 3 MILLION copies a week!

And as for Chris Farrell? Well back in 2008 he launched a membership site. It’s a membership site that teaches internet marketers just like you how to build a successful web business that’ll last for years to come. His site is good for beginners, intermediates or expert marketers.

Taking steps to actively grow your online income was a wise move on your part. So kudos to you! And if you haven’t already guessed by reading my blog…I’m a big fan of affiliate marketing. However, there are some things you should know if you want to be successful at it. For this blog post, I’ll lay out 6 steps to be successful in affiliate marketing. Follow these steps…and you will surely grow your online income

1. Find The Demand

There are more things to sell with affiliate marketing than you can even imagine. However, why try to sell ice cream to Eskimos when you can sell water to marathon runners? The point here is, find a demand in the marketplace…then offer them what they want.

2. Offer More Than One Product

Like I said earlier…there are so many different products to sell with affiliate marketing. So don’t limit yourself to just one product. Find a niche, then offer several products in that niche. Become the big fish in a small pond by dominating a niche. For example…pick a niche. Build a small site for it. Then write 50-100 articles to drive links to it. Then move on to the next one. Before you know it, you’ll be dominating 3 or more niches and then comes the real online cash.

3. Identify Your USP (Unique Selling Point)

In other words, set your business apart from the other businesses that are like yours. If your competition offers only an E-book…then you offer and E-book, DVD and online video. Pick affiliate marketing products that have multiple learning channels and you’ll leave your competition in the dust.

4. Cover Your Assets

Insure your business and your home. Create an LLC or a corporation. I am NOT a lawyer. However, if you are to make this a full time career…then you should seek legal counsel and get a good CPA to help you as well. Remember, this is a business. Not some hokey MLM scheme.

5. Provide Great Service

How can you provide great service if you are an affiliate you ask. Well, don’t sell products that suck! Before you become an affiliate of anything do your homework on them. Subscribe to their newsletter or even ask for a copy of the product for review. Make sure the company you are selling for has good customer service. If they don’t, then your online income will plummet and you’ll be all pissed off. So do your homework savvy?

6. Keep Your Customers Happy

Again, this goes along with what I said a minute ago. Don’t sell stuff that sucks! And, if you are building a list then make sure you send out quality information to your list. Not crap. A surefire way to erase your list is to send out crap to them. So simply don’t do it.

You can definitely grow your online income with affiliate marketing. It’s a great business that will reward you not only with money…but the LIFESTYLE you desire.
